

'More Or Less I Am' Walt Whitman's Bicentennial
I have a run of shows til the end of May with with Compagnia Colombari, a theater collective. Our show is based on the poetry of Walt Whitman, honoring the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. More Or Less I Am is a music- theater piece drawn from Walt Whitman's 1855 "Song of Myself" - conceived and directed by Karin Coonrod with original music by Colin Jacobsen, Kyle Sanna and Eric Jacobsen. Sarafand at Lincoln Center
I performed with Layale Chaker and Adam Maalouf in a slimmed down trio version of Sarafand at the Lincoln Center Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center for a film and panel discussion event dealing with the refugee crisis stemming from war in Syria. We performed selections of our album 'Inner Rhyme'. Golestan at Festival Accès Asie, Montréal
Veronica Simas de Souza and I spent a week in Montréal rehearsing with Ziya Tabassian, an old friend from Montréal and India, and young master of Persian percussion. We explored the intersection of Hindustani and Persian music and dance (with a slight Arabic detour as well). The show, 'Golestan' was presented in the beautiful hall of Jeunesses Musicales.
