Adventures in Remote Recording

Goodbye to September recording madness. I’ve been glued to this spot for many many hours this month, with back-to-back recordings for several upcoming releases; Boots Riley’s “I’m a Virgo” on Amazon with music by Tuneyards, Vikramaditya Motwane’s “Jubilee” on Amazon with music by Alokananda Dasgupta, also Vikramaditya Motwanes’s fascinating docuseries called “Indi(r)a’s Emergency” with music by Anjo John. I even squeezed in a voice-over recording for an ad film somewhere in there as well as one actual flesh and blood recording in a real studio of string parts with my buddies Skye Steele and Dana Lyn for a new album by Deer Tick.

This work can be really challenging, even more so when done remotely. It’s also kind of miraculous, that I can have a composer monitor me live (thank you Audiomovers for ListenTo! Your plugin is incredible!!) from literally the other side of the planet and be trying out ideas in real time as if we were in a studio together.

I know for a fact that I’d go nuts if this were all I was doing all the time, but I am so thankful to have this work in the crazy mix of things I do for a living. It keeps me on my toes. . . . #remoterecording #Audiomovers #JakeCharkey #recordingartist #bootsriley #tuneyards #Amazon #Jubilee #Alokanadadasgupta #AnjoJohn #VikramadityaMotwane #sessionmusican #cello #cellohollywood #musicindustry #studiolife #homestudio #cellobollywood #maximumcity #amchimumbai #Logic #audio #production #deertickmusic #SkyeSteele
