iReel Awards 2019: Alokananda Dasgupta Wins Best Music Honour for Sacred Games 2

Sacred Games Season 2

Alokananda Dasgupta’s haunting music score created a lot of buzz with people wondering what the title track of Sacred Games meant. When season one released, music maestro AR Rahman himself congratulated her for "a very interesting score and mix for Sacred Games."

I'm really excited to see season 2 of Sacred Games has now won the Best Music honour at the News18 iREEL Awards 2019. Alokananda Dasgupta was competing against the likes of Sneha Khanwalkar (RejctX), Gaurav Raina (Made in Heaven), Roby Abraham (Rangbaaz) and Mikey McCleary (Four More Shots Please)

My cello is featured over the background score and specially the theme song 'Dhuan dhuan' of episode 6, which I had done the strings arrangements and performance. I had a blast working with Alokananda.

"...Even after the end credits have rolled and the ghosts of the final images have faded, the apocalyptic, deep sound of the cello keeps ringing in the air, haunting with an urgency. The buzz around Netflix India's Sacred Games 2 has been doing the rounds ever since its release on 15 August, and its soundtrack has only made it louder..."
