Avaloch Residency (June 20th -24th)
I spent 4 days workshopping music with the Nakshatra, a group devoted to original compositions that are inspired by carnatic music, jazz, and other influences. The quartet is an unusual instrumentation (2 violins, 2 cellos) and we spent a fair bit of time exploring the sonic possibilities. We'll be appearing later this summer at Drive East Festival in New York. Incredibly inspiring to make music with and learn from my dear friends Marika Hughes, Arun Ramamurthy, and Trina B

Nakshatra @ Barbès
Ever heard Carnatic Chamber Jazz? Me neither- til now. Played a sweet set last night with Marika Hughes and the power team Arun Ramamurthy and Trina Basu during Marika's month-long residency at Barbès. I'd performed this music with Trina and Arun with percussion, but never with two cellos. Great combo! More to come soon...we'll be in residence at the Avaloch Farm Music Institute in June. Enduring Silence
I had the honor of accompanying contemporary Kathak dancer Parul Shah at the Erasing Borders festival of Indian Dance in New York. We performed an original work, titled Enduring Silence, with original music by myself, violinist Trina Basu, and Narendra Budhakar on tabla. Parul's dance integrated elements of contemporary and abstract movement while using her foundation in traditional Kathak. You can read reviews of the performance from the NY Times and the Financial Times.
